The role:

The role of a Band 6 Occupational Therapist position within the AHP Team in the surgical department at IRH focused on delivering patient‑centred care, specialist assessment, rehabilitation, and complex discharge planning. You will also contribute to MDT working, support staff and students, and help develop the AHP service in surgical and critical care settings.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Base location: Surgical department, Inverclyde Royal Hospital (IRH)

Permanent, Part-time

Shift Pattern - 5/7

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialist clinical assessments and rehabilitation

  • Lead and coordinate complex discharge planning

  • Work collaboratively within the MDT

  • Supervise support staff and students

  • Contribute to AHP service development within the surgical and critical care areas

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Post‑graduate experience in a relevant clinical area

  • Experience supervising staff and students

  • Experience in service development

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy

  • HCPC registration (essential)

  • Skills required: adaptability, creativity, strong communication, teamwork, and motivation to advance the AHP surgical service
