Senior Marketing and Communications Officer
This post is a Full-Time Fixed Term / Secondment position until 31 March 2027

On 1 April 2026, NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) became one national organisation, focused on continuity today and a stronger, more connected service for tomorrow.
As part of this transformation, NSS and NES have joined to form a new organisation: Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland). This new organisation will play a pivotal role in supporting the renewal - and ensuring the long-term sustainability - of health and care services across Scotland.
About the Organisation:
PSD Scotland unites expertise from NES and NSS in a way that will allow us to accelerate national programmes to support the NHS in Scotland to deliver better care, now and in the future.
We support staff with education and training, provide the tools and data that improve services, and run vital national infrastructure services such as procurement, logistics and blood, tissue and cell services.
The Post:
NHS Scotland’s national Scan for Safety Programme is looking for a Senior Marketing and Communications Officer to shape and communicate messages about its national programme of work commissioned to PSD Scotland, to deliver on behalf of NHS Scotland. The role will focus on planning, shaping, and delivering a range of targeted communications and engagement to internal audiences, external NHS Scotland practitioners and partners, and to wider stakeholders and citizens, across a range of channels.
The post holder will support the Scan for Safety Programme Director and workstream leads as well as work in partnership with NHS Boards and other partners across agreed priority areas, aligned to overall programme deliverables.
The Candidate:
We are looking for a self-motivated ‘can do’ individual who firmly believes in the power of good communications and engagement, bringing well-evidenced creative and strategic content development, media relations, internal engagement, and digital experience.
Key Responsibilities:
• Continue the development and implementation of a stakeholder engagement plan to ensure effective communication and collaboration with all relevant stakeholders.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including government officials, NHS Health Boards, and commercial partners.
• Plan, deliver, monitor and evaluate stakeholder engagement efforts, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
• Provide regular updates and reports on stakeholder engagement activities to programme leadership and other relevant stakeholders.
Location and Working Pattern:
This post can be based at Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Delta House, Glasgow with travel to national NHS Boards and other locations, as required.
Currently hybrid working.
The work pattern for this post is Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with PSDS.
