Plus Distant Island Allowance of £2,578 per annum

Lead, Shape and Deliver Cardiac Physiology Services in a Unique Island Setting

We are seeking an experienced, forward-thinking Principal Cardiac Physiologist to lead and develop our Cardiac Physiology Service within NHS Shetland. This is a rare opportunity to take on a scientific leadership role in a remote and rural health system. The service provides locally delivered diagnostics wherever possible, supported by digital pathways and collaboration with regional partners to reduce patient travel.

The Cardiac Physiology Department is a well-equipped, modern service including:

  • Dedicated treatment rooms and clinic space
  • Two GE echocardiography machines (portable and E9)
  • Echopac reporting system and established database
  • Sentinel system for Holter monitoring
  • Treadmill testing facilities and pacing programmers
  • Physiologist-led vetting of referrals with the administration supported by the Patient Focussed Booking Team
