An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Paediatrician within our Paediatric Department at University Hospital Crosshouse, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire.
Hours and Shift Pattern:
This is a full time replacement post contributing to the acute general paediatric rota out of hours and hot weeks in hours. The out of hours work is resident until 2130 and then on call from home subject to distance away from base. There is an appropriate on call supplement for immediate call back.
This post is offered on a permanent basis.
What you will do:
The postholder will join an enthusiastic and friendly team of Consultant Paediatricians based at University Hospital Crosshouse. There is a separate team of Paediatricians based at the Neonatal Unit in the adjacent Ayrshire Maternity Unit and a team of Community Paediatricians based at Rainbow House, Ayrshire Central Hospital, Irvine.
The Consultants are supported by Specialty Doctors, trainees at FY2, GPST and ST level on a rotational basis and Advanced Paediatric Nurse Practitioners. There is also an excellent team of nurses covering the inpatient and assessment wards and also supporting children and families at home.
The postholder will contribute to the on call out of hours acute paediatric rota, including child protection. This is resident until 2130 and then on call from home, subject to distance away from base. Monday to Friday daytime there is a hot week rota consisting of two Consultants providing acute paediatric cover and acute child protection cover.
The postholder will provide general paediatric outpatient services at locations across Ayrshire and Arran. The postholder will be expected to have or to develop skills in Paediatric rheumatology and lead that service. There will be support and training available to develop this role. The postholder will be responsible for the Bowel management clinic with experienced nursing support.
The postholder will contribute to Educational Supervision and training of resident doctors at tier 1 and tier 2 level. The Paediatric Department has a healthy risk management and QI ethos with opportunity to contribute to both.
