The role:

This post is for an Advanced Prosthetic Technician within the West of Scotland Mobility and Rehabilitation Centre (WestMARC). We are seeking an experienced technician with strong technical expertise and a passion for training, education, and professional development. This role plays a key part in shaping the future of prosthetics, enhancing service quality, and embedding best practice through structured training and mentorship.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • Full-time, Permanent

  • Location: WestMARC Centre, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow

  • Shift Pattern: 36hr Week

Key responsibilities:

  • Manufacture, repair, and maintain custom‑made and modified medical devices to prescription within the WestMARC quality management system.

  • Contribute to the design of custom-made medical devices.

  • Provide technical leadership within Prosthetics.

  • Offer technical advice to clinical staff and other technicians.

  • Deliver, coordinate, and facilitate training for:

    • Prosthetic technicians

    • Clinical colleagues

    • Students

    • Trainees

  1. Support the development of a highly skilled, future‑focused workforce.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Strong focus on training, education, and professional development.

  • Ability to support and mentor others, embedding best practice.

  • Advanced technical expertise in prosthetic manufacture and maintenance.

  • Understanding of quality management systems within clinical rehabilitation technology services.
