The role:
Join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as a Healthcare Support Worker and play a vital role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care within a supportive multidisciplinary team. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- Duration: Permanent Role
- Location: Glasgow Royal Infirmary
- Hours: Full Time (Rotational Shift Pattern)
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality personal care to patients, including feeding, bathing and repositioning
- Support registered nurses and the wider clinical team in delivering safe and effective care
- Monitor patients and report any changes in physical or psychological condition promptly
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised clinical environment supporting infection control standards
- Communicate with patients, relatives and colleagues in a compassionate and professional manner
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring effective communication across the team
- Support stock control, equipment use and housekeeping duties to ensure smooth ward operation
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- SVQ II in a relevant subject or equivalent experience gained through training and practice
- Understanding of healthcare policies, including infection prevention, health and safety and patient confidentiality
- Ability to deliver care effectively in a busy clinical environment under supervision
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring and compassionate approach
- Basic IT skills and ability to maintain accurate patient records
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and follow direction appropriately
- Willingness to complete mandatory training and continuously develop skills and knowledge
