The role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent band 5 Community Dietitian to join the NHS GGC Dietetic Service for the South Quadrant team. This geographical area provides dietetic services for all ages, and across diverse socio-economic and cultural groups. The population includes significant levels of high deprivation, chronic ill health and areas of affluence. The ability to motivate patients to make lifelong changes aiding the prevention or management of disease using skills of negotiation and behaviour change is essential.

- Location based in Drumchapel Health Centre
- Permanent Contract
- Part-time position (29.6 hours per week)
- Shift pattern for this post are 4 out of 7
Post 3:
- Location based in Ferguelie Clinic
- Permanent Contract
- Full-time position (36 hours per week)
- Shift pattern for this post are 5 days out of 7
Key responsibilities:
The successful applicant will join a friendly and enthusiastic community dietetic team. They will have a key role in:
- Planning and providing an evidence based dietetic service to patients in their own homes, outpatient clinics, care homes, and supported accommodation. This will cover a range of clinical conditions including enteral feeding. The dietitian will work in partnership with patients, their carers and other professionals including nursing, medical and AHP staff.
- Planning, organising and undertaking clinics in various community / health settings to assess and provide nutritional advice for referred patients e.g, gastro-intestinal conditions, diabetes, paediatrics, heart disease and metabolic syndrome, including those with physical disabilities and mental health impairment
- Deliver in person / digital groups to patients requiring nutritional advice on a range of topics for example diabetes or weaning.
- Reviewing and improving service delivery by undertaking quality improvement activities and participation in development groups.
- Planning and delivery of education and training for health care professionals and carers that supports staff to provide first line nutritional advice to patients.
- Supervising, teaching, mentoring of student dietitians, dietetic support workers and administrative staff.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Applicant requires minimum education to BSc Dietetics qualification, registration with Health Care Professionals Council – new graduates to confirm registration pending, member of British Dietetic Association is preferable. PVG membership scheme / Disclosure Scotland and a drivers’ licence is essential.
Essential:
- BSc Human Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent
- Registered Dietitian with Health & Care Professional Council- applications where registration is pending and HCPC registration will be confirmed by the end of June 2026 will be accepted.
- Broad clinical knowledge of across a range of conditions, including diabetes, nutrition support, enteral feeding etc
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), negotiation, motivation and networking skills
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
Desirable:
- Experience of dietetic community working
- Experience of working with groups/ delivering training
- Experience in health improvement activities
- Basic introduction to Counselling Skills and Behaviour Modification / Motivational Interviewing
- Clinical Educator Training

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
