The role:
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde for a Charge Nurse / Specialist Perioperative Practitioner Team Leader to join our dynamic theatre team. This is a rewarding leadership role where you will make a real difference to patient care while supporting and developing a skilled multidisciplinary workforce. All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- You will be based at Institute of Neurological Sciences, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, G51 4TF
- Full Time, Permanent
- Working between Monday and Sunday with full flexibility for early/late/weekends and on call
Key responsibilities:
- Provide clinical leadership, guidance and support to the theatre team to ensure safe and effective patient care
- Lead and coordinate perioperative activities including assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care
- Support the SCN in maintaining clinical standards, policies and quality improvement initiatives
- Supervise, mentor and develop staff, promoting a positive learning environment and continuous development
- Manage theatre resources efficiently, including staff allocation and equipment utilisation
- Participate in audit, service improvement and implementation of best practice within the department
- Contribute to on-call and emergency cover, ensuring continuity of high-quality care
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- Registered Nurse with NMC registration or recognised Operating Department Practitioner qualification
- Relevant post-registration experience within a perioperative environment
- Demonstrated experience across more than one surgical specialty
- Strong clinical skills including anaesthetic and/or scrub expertise with in-depth knowledge of theatre practice
- Proven leadership and people management skills with the ability to supervise and support staff
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with effective time management
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and commitment to maintaining high clinical standards
