The Role

  • To work as a member of the team, responsible for the hearing screening of all newborn babies born or resident in Lanarkshire, under the supervision of the Audiology Deputy Service Manager.
  • To collect and record accurately all clinical and test data relevant to the screening process.
  • To relate test outcomes in a sympathetic manner to parents/carers.
  • The post holder may be asked to undertake other reasonable duties such as working within the wider Audiology Service.

The working pattern for this role is Monday - Sunday, 8am to 4pm or 9am to 5pm

In this key role, you will:

  • To provide a high quality hearing screening service in accordance with national and local guidelines.
  • To ensure a family friendly approach by providing a professional and caring attitude throughout the screening process.
  • To maintain the confidentiality of the babies and their families at all times.
  • To ensure parental anxiety is kept to a minimum throughout the screening process by providing appropriate information to the family.

What You'll Bring:

  • SVQ III in health or social care or equivalent experience working in the role.
  • Completed a four-week practical training programme delivered by the Audiology Deputy Service Manager and the Screening Supervisor.
  • Satisfactory outcome for Theory & Practical Assessment.
  • Understanding of how each type of screening equipment works and how to use them properly.
  • Knowledge of ear anatomy and different types of hearing loss.
  • A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
