The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join the Medical High Dependency Unit within Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Full Time, Permanent

Base Location: Glasgow Royal Infirmary

Shift Pattern: Monday to Sunday, 36 hours, rotation between days and nights

Key responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based care tailored to individual patient needs in a high dependency setting
  • Deliver direct clinical care, including technical and invasive procedures, in line with best practice standards
  • Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient records in accordance with NMC guidelines
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure effective communication and continuity of care
  • Supervise and support junior staff, students and unregistered staff to promote a positive learning environment
  • Contribute to quality improvement through audit, research and the implementation of clinical standards
  • Participate in the day-to-day organisation of the clinical area, ensuring safe and efficient use of resources

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Registered Nurse with current UK NMC registration
  • One year post-registration experience, with Band 5 or equivalent experience desirable
  • Completion of the Flying Start Programme and willingness to undertake further study
  • Interest in acute or critical care nursing with a commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to support patients and families in challenging situations
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced and technologically advanced clinical environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team using sound clinical judgement
