The role:
Join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as a Crisis Practitioner and make a real difference to individuals experiencing acute mental health crises within the community. Working as part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary Crisis Team, you will provide rapid, compassionate support that helps people remain safely at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate.
This is a rewarding and fast-paced role where no two days are the same, offering the opportunity to work autonomously while being fully supported by an experienced team. You will play a key part in assessment, intervention and recovery-focused care, helping individuals and families during some of the most challenging times in their lives. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
Duration: Permanent
Base Location: North East Area, Glasgow
Hours: 36 Hours (Full Time)
Working Pattern: (Mon-Friday 9-5, 9-4:30 or 12-8 Sat/Sun 9-5)
Key responsibilities:
- Undertake comprehensive assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation of care for individuals experiencing mental health crisis
- Deliver intensive home treatment and support to reduce hospital admissions and facilitate early discharge
- Build therapeutic relationships with service users and carers based on dignity, respect and person-centred care
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to coordinate effective care pathways
- Identify and manage clinical risk, including responding to emergency or high-risk situations appropriately
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with professional and organisational standards
- Support students and junior staff through supervision, mentoring and role modelling best practice
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- Registered Mental Health Nurse with valid NMC registration
- Post-registration experience within mental health services, ideally in a community or crisis setting
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development and reflective practice
- Sound knowledge of mental health legislation, policy and ethical frameworks
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and complex situations
- Ability to work independently and make informed clinical decisions under pressure
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across community settings
