About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated professional to join our Mental Health Services team. The post holder will report to the Associate Nurse Director, with clinical leadership provided by the Clinical Director for Mental Health and Learning Disabilities and the medical education leads.

This is a key role providing specialist guidance, leadership, and support across Mental Health Services, ensuring high-quality, safe, and effective care while supporting the development of an excellent learning culture.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Governance & Effectiveness

  • Provide expert advice and support on all clinical governance matters across Mental Health Services.
  • Work collaboratively with Clinical Directors, Clinical Leads, and the Associate Nurse Director to strengthen governance structures and processes.
  • Review clinical performance against defined standards to identify areas for improvement.
  • Identify and manage patient safety risks.
  • Promote evidence-based practice to ensure care is effective, current, and aligned with clinical standards.

Learning, Development & Education

  • Support healthcare staff to learn from incidents and embed continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate and promote learning activities that help staff maintain and enhance their clinical knowledge and skills.
  • Work with Medical Education Leads to design, support, and deliver high‑quality teaching for undergraduate medical students and other learners.
  • Ensure the quality, consistency, and governance of undergraduate medical education within Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Services.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Strong knowledge of clinical governance, patient safety, and clinical effectiveness.
  • Experience in education, facilitation of learning, or medical/clinical teaching.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively across professional groups and service areas.
  • A commitment to improving patient outcomes and enhancing the learning experience for healthcare staff and undergraduate students.
