MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST – WEST LINTON HEALTH CENTRE
POST: Medical Receptionist
RESPONSIBLE TO: Lynne Nicol, Practice Manager
RATE OF PAY: NHS Agenda for Change pay scales (depending on
experience)
HOURS: 16 per week + overtime
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POST
Ability to use own judgment, resourcefulness and be able to work under pressure without direct supervision.
To have excellent communication skills and patience.
To be reliable and flexible.
To observe strict confidentiality on all matters relating to the practice and our patients.
Ability to cover holidays and sickness/over time.
There will be mandatory training such as CPR annually. As we are a small Practice there may be times when you are assisting in an emergency.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice
- To work within the Data Entry team to assist and learn administration duties within this specific team
- Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.
- Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt, appropriate delivery.
- Action repeat prescription requests.
- Accept and dispatch samples to hospital laboratory.
- Enter information to patient’s electronic record as required.
- Process results and letters electronically.
- Registering new patients
- Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Partners or the Practice Manager.
