The Role

The purpose of the Procurement Officer role is to provide tactical and strategic procurement support to NHS Lanarkshire to help achieve best value for part of NHS Lanarkshire’s c.£310m annual third party non-routine expenditure on goods, works and services.

The Procurement Officer has discretion to act in order to ensure an efficient and effective purchase to pay process within the wider ‘source to settle’ process, for all relevant supplies, works and services for NHS Lanarkshire in accordance with Procurement Regulations, Standing Financial Instructions (SFIs) and local Procurement policies and processes.

Please note this is a fixed term post until 08/12/2026. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.

In this key role, you will:

NHS Lanarkshire’s Procurement & Logistics departments support all health board functions with a comprehensive range of procurement, commercial and operational logistics services. Procurement services include tactical and strategic procurement support to influence the Board’s c.£310m annual expenditure across corporate services, social/health services, estates, laboratories, medical and surgical categories.

What You'll Bring:

  • HND or degree in a relevant discipline or CIPS Advanced Diploma (Level 5) or CIPS Professional Diploma (Level 6)
  • Experience in Procurement and supply chain environment
  • Experience of purchasing / buying activity in a private or public sector environment.
  • Experience in undertaking public sector procurement activity e.g. competitive quotations (quick quotes) or regulated procurements (tenders)
