About The Organisation

We proudly serve a population of 655,000 across rural and urban communities in both North and South Lanarkshire. NHS Lanarkshire is comprised of Acute Services (which currently provide hospital based services over 3 main sites), Corporate & Property & Support Services, North and South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnerships which provide integrated primary healthcare and social care services to local communities and surrounding areas.

The Role

The Community Addiction Recovery Service (CAReS) in South Lanarkshire provides harm reduction interventions and treatment to people adversely affected by alcohol and drugs. The service delivers an integrated model of care and is staffed by colleagues from 2 different organisations (NHSL and SLC). The service operates in all 4 South Lanarkshire localities. Each team within the service is managed by a health or a social work colleague.

The post holders will be part of a multi-disciplinary team who offer support to people who are adversely affected by alcohol and/or drug use. The post holders will provide assertive outreach to individuals identified by the multi-disciplinary team. They will encourage engagement by providing harm reduction interventions as well as linkages into treatment and support of third sector organisations in South Lanarkshire.

Please note this is a fixed term post for 18 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.

In this key role, you will:

  • The post holders will signpost people to most appropriate service to meet their individual need.
  • The post holders will support people to attend appointments or, where this is not possible, work with others for the person to be seen in a mutually agreeable environment.

What You'll Bring:

  • SVQ 3 in Health/Social Care or working towards, or equivalent experience working in a health or social care role/voluntary role/or have personal/lived experience of adversity caused by substance use.
  • Have a working/living knowledge and understanding of the consequences and impact of adverse substance use (physical, social, environmental)
