About Us

At NHS Golden Jubilee University National Hospital, we’re proud to play a key role in supporting NHS Scotland by delivering high-quality, person-centred care. As a modern national facility with state-of-the-art clinical services and specialist teams, we help ensure patients across Scotland receive timely, safe and effective treatment.

Our Orthopaedic service is committed to providing outstanding patient care throughout the patient journey, from admission through to discharge. Working within a multidisciplinary team, we strive to create a supportive environment that promotes recovery, dignity, compassion and clinical excellence.

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Healthcare Support Worker/Phlebotomist to join our Orthopaedic Nursing Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care while contributing to the continued success of one of Scotland's leading healthcare organisations.

Working under the supervision of registered nursing staff, you will provide both clinical and non-clinical support to enhance patient-focused care. Your responsibilities will include undertaking venepuncture and phlebotomy procedures, assisting with personal care, admissions, discharges and transfers, preparing patients for examinations and procedures, supporting dietary and fluid needs, collecting specimens, and assisting with the monitoring and reporting of changes in patient condition.

You will also contribute to maintaining a safe, clean and efficient clinical environment and support the wider team with administrative and organisational duties as required.

The successful candidate will be expected to work using their own initiative within agreed competencies, while contributing to continuous improvement, patient safety and the delivery of excellent customer care.

About You

Previous experience within an acute healthcare environment is essential for this post. You will be an enthusiastic and compassionate individual with excellent communication skills and a genuine interest in providing high standards of care within a busy Orthopaedic department.

You will be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team whilst also demonstrating the ability to work independently when required. We are looking for someone who can provide support and empathy to patients and their families, prioritise tasks effectively, and maintain a professional approach in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, basic IT and numeracy skills, and a willingness to undertake further training and development are highly desirable.
