An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Senior Charge Nurse to join the Older People and Stroke team at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Ward 57 is busy and dynamic ward that is focused of the providing person centred care to patients who are rehabilitating after a Stroke.

As Senior Charge Nurse you will provide visible, professional and clinical leadership. Lead, develop and support the team to deliver safe, effective and per son centred care. Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to drive high standards and innovation. The post holder will be a credible leader and have a consistent approach to supporting the clinical teams in the delivery and achievement of high quality care. The Senior Charge Nurse must demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills. Evidence of personal development will be expected with a willingness to contribute to education and audit. A good understanding and knowledge of policy, procedures will be required to support the team.

You will possess substantial experience at band 6 level within a relevant setting and demonstrate a high level of IT skills. It is essential that you are currently a Registered Nurse with the NMC and that you have significant post registration experience with relevant manage rial and clinical experience.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • Full-time, permanent
  • You will be based at The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
  • Working Pattern: 4 days over 7

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide visible clinical leadership and operational management within the ward or department
  • Lead, support and develop nursing and support staff to deliver high-quality patient-centred care
  • Ensure safe, effective and evidence-based clinical practice is maintained and continuously improved
  • Manage staffing resources, workforce planning, recruitment and performance management activities
  • Monitor and drive quality improvement initiatives, clinical governance and patient safety standards
  • Promote effective multidisciplinary working to support seamless patient journeys and discharge planning
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention, health and safety and organisational policies and procedures

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • First level Nursing or Midwifery qualification with current NMC registration relevant to the clinical area
  • Degree level qualification or evidence of continuing professional development equivalent to SCQF Level 9
  • Significant post-registration experience within a relevant clinical specialty with evidence of expert practice
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing, motivating and developing teams
  • Strong understanding of clinical governance, patient safety, quality improvement and person-centred care
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
  • Good computer and information technology skills with the ability to effectively manage clinical and workforce information systems
