Generic Support Worker – Hotel Services within Cleaning (Non‑Clinical Role)

We are looking to recruit Generic Support Workers to join the Hotel Services Department at NHS Shetland. These non-clinical support roles play a vital part in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment across NHS Shetland sites, in line with NHS Scotland national standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied and rewarding role. Generic Support Workers provide support across a range of Domestic Services areas, offering flexibility and variety in day-to-day duties while contributing to the delivery of high-quality services throughout NHS Shetland.

As part of a dedicated team, you will deliver essential cleaning and support services across the organisation, helping to ensure our facilities remain safe, comfortable and fit for purpose for patients, staff and visitors.

This position is predominantly Monday to Friday; however, the postholder will be expected to work occasional evening, night and weekend shifts to provide service cover during annual leave, sickness absence and other staffing shortfalls. Enhanced pay is payable for eligible night and weekend shifts.

We are looking for candidates with good communication skills who are flexible, reliable and able to work well under pressure. Full training and induction will be provided, followed by ongoing support from experienced colleagues until you are fully competent in all aspects of the role, including relevant procedures and documentation.

A full driving licence is desirable, as you may be required to work at sites across Shetland.

You will be expected to comply with the Induction Standards and Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers within 3 months of commencing your role – details can be viewed on http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Resource/Doc/288863/0088362.pdf
