The role:

The post is based within the North East Primary Care Mental Health Team and Psychotherapy Service. The purpose of the role is to support the Service Manager in managing a multidisciplinary team and ensuring the delivery of a high-quality service that complies with statutory responsibilities, professional standards, and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde policies and procedures. The post holder will lead and manage a team of psychologists, CBT therapists, mental health practitioners, counsellors, and psychotherapists.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Fixed-term up to 12 months, Full-time

Shift Pattern - Core Hours (36 hours over 5 days)

Base location - Parkhead Hub

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the Service Manager in the management of multidisciplinary team members.
  • Lead and manage psychologists, CBT therapists, mental health practitioners, counsellors, and psychotherapists.
  • Take responsibility for the daily operational management of the service.
  • Lead on care governance activities.
  • Set and monitor standards of care and service delivery.
  • Investigate complaints and support service improvement.
  • Provide staff support and promote career-long learning.
  • Oversee continuous professional development and practice supervision.
  • Implement policy and practice guidelines.
  • Contribute to service development during the ongoing Step Forward Programme review.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Relevant experience within mental health services is essential.
  • Knowledge of care governance principles, service standards, and quality improvement.
  • Understanding of statutory responsibilities, professional guidelines, and NHS policies and procedures.
  • Experience supporting staff development, supervision, and continuous professional development initiatives.
