Consultant MEDICAL

Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.

Applications are welcome for the above Permanent, full time (24 hours per week) post based in Royal Edinburgh Hospital

You may also be required to work at any of NHS Lothian sites.

This is a 6 Programmed Activities (PAs) post as Consultant Psychiatrist in IHTT. The post holder will work alongside 1.6 WTE consultant colleagues to provide medical responsibility and clinical leadership to patients under the care of the IHTT. There is in addition a 0.8 WTE Specialty Doctor a WTE Senior Clinical Fellow (0.5 IHTT and 0.5 Medical Education) and 0.6WTE CT3 in addition to ST4-6 doctors on a rotational basis.

The IHTT is a multidisciplinary team (doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, support workers and psychologist with access to social work) providing a viable alternative to hospital admission. The team is based in the Royal Edinburgh Building of the Royal Edinburgh Hospital. The various functions include providing 24/7 alternative to hospital to the City of Edinburgh (between midnight and 8 AM the team also covers Midlothian and East Lothian), gatekeeping all admissions to the REH and facilitating early discharge from the REH acute admission wards.

There are opportunities to increase clinical sessions within the post which can be further discussed. These would be available within both inpatient and outpatient settings
