We are currently recruiting for a Hotel Front Office Host to join our Hotel Front Office team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a busy, customer-focused environment where you will play a vital role in delivering outstanding service to guests, patients, visitors and staff.


About the Role

As a Hotel Front Office Host, you will be the first point of contact for many of our guests and visitors, providing a warm welcome and ensuring an excellent customer experience. Working within the Hotel Front Office team, you will support the smooth day-to-day operation of reception, reservations, switchboard and guest services while working closely with colleagues across the hotel and hospital.

This is a varied and rewarding role within a fast-paced hospitality environment. You will be responsible for responding to guest enquiries, checking guests in and out, operating the switchboard, processing reservations and supporting hotel operations to ensure the highest standards of service are maintained.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing a professional and comprehensive reception service to guests, patients, visitors and staff.
  • Welcoming visitors and directing them to the appropriate departments and facilities.
  • Managing guest enquiries and providing advice on hotel services and local facilities.
  • Operating the hotel switchboard and handling calls efficiently.
  • Processing reservations, guest arrivals and departures.
  • Supporting conference, housekeeping, food and beverage and other hotel services as required.
  • Maintaining accurate financial, billing and cash handling processes.
  • Ensuring health, safety and security procedures are followed at all times.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Conference Hotel and National Hospital.


About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic and customer-focused individual with previous experience in a hotel reception environment or a similar customer service setting. You will be an excellent communicator who enjoys interacting with a wide range of people and can remain calm and professional in a busy environment.

You should be able to demonstrate:

  • Previous experience working within a hotel reception or similar environment.
  • Excellent communication and customer care skills, including a professional telephone manner.
  • Strong IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office applications, email and internet systems.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Tact, diplomacy and discretion when dealing with confidential or sensitive matters.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shift patterns.
  • The ability to remain calm and respond effectively during emergency situations.

Experience of food and beverage service preparation, knowledge of GDPR and data protection requirements, or knowledge of Glasgow and the surrounding areas would be advantageous. A full UK driving licence is also desirable.
