You will be directly responsible for the staff management of the nursing team to include appraisals, learning and development and policy adherence.

You will play a central role in developing and shaping the future of the service whilst ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe and effective patient centred care whilst working collaboratively with the wider HSCP and NHS Grampian corporate and clinical teams.

Reporting to the Service Manager, the successful candidate will provide strategic direction and strong clinical leadership across the service.

Your key responsibilities will include:-

• Operational Management: Overseeing the day-to-day delivery, capacity planning, and performance management of the sexual health service.
• Clinical Governance & Quality: Ensuring a culture of continuous quality improvement, maintaining high clinical standards, and robustly managing risk, incidents, and complaints.
• Workforce Leadership: Providing line management, professional supervision, and mentorship to the wider nursing workforce (Band 3’s – Band 7’s).
• Strategic Development: Leading and developing the development of the service, ensuring resilience, accessibility, and ability to respond to local population needs.
• Financial & Resource Management: Managing devolved budgets effectively and ensuring efficient deployment of staff and resources.

To excel in this role, you must be a Registered Nurse (NMC) with a master’s degree or equivalent level of experience, alongside a proven track record of successful leadership at a senior level (typically Band 7 or above) within a complex healthcare environment.

You should possess:

• Extensive experience in nursing, preferably within a field related to sexual health – i.e. Infectious Diseases, Gynaecology, Women’s Health etc.

• Demonstrable leadership / staff management experience and skillset including teaching and supporting others to obtain clinical competencies, knowledge and skills combined with up to date knowledge of NHS Scotland Workforce Policies and implementation of these within the workforce.

• Exceptional change-management skills with the ability to lead teams through periods of service redesign and transformation.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including multidisciplinary teams, and public health colleagues.
• A deep understanding of current Scottish Government health and social care policies.
