Post: Population Health Strategic Programme Manager

Location: Waverley Court

Salary: AfC Band 8a – 21.6hrs permanent

NHS Lothian is seeking an experienced and ambitious Population Health Strategic Programme Manager to join our Public Health and Health Policy Directorate. This is an exciting opportunity to lead strategic programmes that tackle health inequalities, improve population health and influence policy and practice across a wide range of partner organisations.

Working at a senior level across health, social care, local government, the third sector and national organisations, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering public health priorities that improve outcomes for communities across Lothian, with a particular focus on West Lothian.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting child health, building healthy places and communities and tackling health inequalities. You must be an excellent communicator with strong presentation and facilitation skills. Able to build productive relationships across multiple organisations and sectors.

The Public Health and Health Policy Directorate is committed to improving and protecting the health of people across Lothian through partnership, prevention and reducing inequalities. You will join a supportive, multidisciplinary team working on some of the most important public health challenges facing our communities today.

This is an opportunity to influence strategic decision-making at local, regional and national levels while leading programmes that make a lasting difference to people's lives.

Join us and help create healthier, fairer communities across Lothian.

AI tools like ChatGPT or Copilot can be great for planning and preparing your application—but your answers must be your own.

  • Show us the real you: Your application should reflect your skills, experience, and motivations authentically.
  • Use AI wisely: It’s fine to use AI for ideas or to check spelling and grammar, but don’t let it write your answers.
  • Why this matters: Applications that rely on AI-generated content may be withdrawn. By applying, you confirm your responses are based on your own knowledge and achievements.

Tip: Think of AI as a helper, not a substitute. We want to understand you—not an AI tool.
