Job Advert

One application. Multiple opportunities. Endless experience.

Start or continue your nursing career with confidence whilst exploring a range of clinical specialties across NHS Dumfries and Galloway.

Are you a newly qualified nurse looking for your first post or an experienced nurse looking for something different?

We are offering a unique opportunity to join our Adult Nursing family at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary (DGRI) and have the opportunity to work in a role that will give you access to a range of our services.

Unlike traditional bank work, these fixed-term Band 5 posts provide the security of contracted hours, a supported learning environment, fixed rota arrangements and access to all of the development opportunities available to newly qualified nurses such as Preceptorship and flying start.

Working across a range of inpatient clinical areas, you will gain invaluable experience caring for patients in different specialties whilst building your confidence, competence and clinical skills. This varied experience will help you identify where your interests lie and prepare you for future career opportunities within NHS Dumfries and Galloway.

Why choose working in this way compared to the tradition role in one unit or joining the bank?

Develop your skills

You will gain experience across a variety of medical and surgical ward environments, helping you build a broad foundation of clinical knowledge and expertise. This is vital for anyone wanting to develop into leadership roles in the future.

Job security

Unlike bank employment, these posts offer a fixed-term employment contract with agreed hours and rostered shifts, providing stability during your first year of practice.

Build your future career

The experience, knowledge and relationships you gain during the programme can place you in an excellent position when applying for permanent opportunities across NHS Dumfries and Galloway.
