Who We Are
As NHS Scotland's unique provider of a national tele-health and tele-care service, we are responsible for the delivery of health advice and information by telephone and online services to the population of Scotland 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. NHS 24 is a patient-focused service providing the people of Scotland with triage, advice, guidance, referral and information on health and healthcare services.
We have five regional centres – Aberdeen, Dundee, South Queensferry, Cardonald and Clydebank. NHS 24 supports hybrid working, and this post can be based within any NHS 24 regional centre. The successful candidate must be within commuting distance to a regional centre to attend if required and must also be able to travel to other regional centres when requested to attend meetings, undertake training and any other activities.
The Role
The post holder will provide line management and operational leadership for the delivery layer of the People Data and Digital function, ensuring staff are supported, workloads are balanced and operational priorities are delivered. This responsibility supports service resilience and capacity, but sits alongside the postholder’s wider digital, data, service improvement and implementation responsibilities.
Working under the direction of the Head of People Data and Digital, the post holder will support the delivery of the People Data and Digital Transformation Plan and major workforce digital programmes, including Data Warehouse and Business Services Systems readiness. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of workforce digital, data and transactional services within NHS 24, acting as the critical link between strategic transformation initiatives and day-to-day operational delivery. You will identify operational requirements, coordinate implementation activity, support testing and adoption, and embed improvements that enhance the employee and manager experience. You will play a key role in ensuring new systems, processes and ways of working are successfully embedded whilst maintaining high-quality operational services.
The post holder will act as the key operational link between the Head of People Data and Digital, the wider team, the Directorate and key stakeholders across NHS 24, ensuring work is prioritised, co-ordinated and delivered to agreed timescales and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the operational delivery of workforce data, digital and transactional services.
- Manage and develop a high-performing People Data and Digital team.
- Drive continuous improvement and digital transformation initiatives.
- Support the implementation of workforce systems, reporting solutions and service developments.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships and provide effective operational leadership for the People Data and Digital function.
Successful Applicant will:
- Be educated to SCQF Level 10 or demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge and experience in workforce services, operational management, business administration or service delivery.
- Have significant experience of leading or co-ordinating operational service delivery within a complex workforce, digital, data, HR or corporate services environment.
- Demonstrate experience of delivering service improvement, digital transformation or systems-development activity, including implementation, testing, adoption or operational change.
- Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, make informed decisions and recommend practical solutions.
- Have excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills, with experience of developing teams, building effective relationships and influencing positive change across an organisation.
Benefits
NHS 24 offers a complete benefits package, with a permanent contract on Band 7 £52,845 - £61,466 Per Annum (pro rata if applicable). Placement on salary scale is dependent on confirmation of previous relevant NHS service.
