NHS Lanarkshire is comprised of Acute Services (which currently provide hospital based services over 3 main sites), Corporate & Property & Support Services, North and South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnerships which provide integrated primary healthcare and social care services to local communities and surrounding areas.

The Role

The post holder will lead a range of dynamic interventions across a range of teams, identifying practice development opportunities which support the delivery of reliable person centred care through the utilisation of one or more of the following across the NMAHP community of NHS Lanarkshire:

1. Practice development strategies

2. Professional advisory and internal consultancy services

3. Project and people management

4. Development, training and education

5. Development, compliance or review of policies, procedures and guidelines.

The post holder will be charged with driving forward care improvement through the development of frontline clinical leadership and practice, responsibility and accountability informed by improvement science methodology and sustained implementation of evidence based practice.

The post holder will have responsibility for delivering an agreed set of annual objectives. This will involve working across the NMAHP community (from the most junior to the most senior); respecting and challenging professional boundaries; and working collaboratively and in partnership with patients, public, other service providers, education providers and regulatory and national policy leads.

In this key role, you will:

  • Participate in the structured delivery/commissioning/integration of practice development or education programmes.
  • Be fully compliant with NMC/HCPC/HCSW Codes of Conduct and other relevant standards and processes which support, maintain and develop professionalism.
  • Maintain knowledge and expertise in respect of own clinical practice and educational expertise.
  • Lead, manage and ensure adequacy of human and supplies resourcing within own team and PDC (being an authorised signatory).

What You'll Bring:

  • A Registered Practitioner on either the NMC or HCPC register.
  • At least 5 years post registration experience in a healthcare setting, with at least 3 years in a clinical or educational leadership position (Band 7 or above)
  • Educated to Masters Level.
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Professional Education or equivalent qualification.

What we Offer

As a valued employee of NHS Lanarkshire, you can enjoy an extensive range of benefits including:

  • Annual Leave - 35 days including public holidays
  • Generous NHS pension scheme
  • Annual incremental salary progression
  • Paid sick leave increasing with length of service
  • NHS discounts and more.

NHS Lanarkshire is dedicated to building a diverse workforce where everyone can thrive, develop, and succeed based on their skills, knowledge, and talent - regardless of race, disability, gender, sexual orientation, or care experience* or any other dimension that can be used to differentiate people from one another.

*Care experienced applicants include those who have lived with foster parents, kinship carers, or in residential/secure children’s settings.

AI tools like ChatGPT or Copilot can be great for planning and preparing your application, but your answers must be your own.

  • Show us the real you: Your application should reflect your skills, experience, and motivations authentically.
  • Use AI wisely: It’s fine to use AI for ideas or to check spelling and grammar, but don’t let it write your answers.
  • Why this matters: Applications that rely on AI-generated content may be withdrawn. By applying, you confirm your responses are based on your own knowledge and achievements.

Tip: Think of AI as a helper, not a substitute. We want to understand you, not an AI tool.
