The role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Older People’s Community Mental Health Team for a Band 3 Clinical Support Worker. The post holder will support patients with organic or functional mental health illnesses who have been referred to the service. The successful candidate will manage their own caseload, visiting patients in the community and reporting any changes in their psychological wellbeing to the nursing and medical team.
This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
Permanent, full-time, 36 hours per week
Shift Pattern - Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00
Base location - Elderpark Clinic/ Shawmill Resource Centre
Key responsibilities:
- Manage a delegated caseload of patients within the community.
- Visit patients and report changes in their psychological needs to the nursing and medical team.
- Undertake delegated tasks assigned by registered mental health nurses.
- Support patients who are experiencing stress and distress.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, carers, and multidisciplinary team members.
- Monitor patients prescribed cognitive enhancers.
- Complete physical health checks for patients taking antipsychotic medication.
- Contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care within the community mental health service.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- Previous experience working in a caring environment is essential, preferably within a healthcare or mental health setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Opportunities will be available to develop specialist skills, including venepuncture and SPIRIT training.
- A current driving licence is essential for the role.
