An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced male* registered nurse to work in Lothian Sexual and Reproductive Health Service (LSRHS) ROAM Team. The ROAM Team offer outreach/inreach services to the most hard to reach men who have sex with men (MSM) and is part of services offered by the Chalmers Centre.

The fully integrated service is composed of Chalmers Centre and up to 10 local clinics (pre-Covid). It provides Tier 4 and 5 specialist sexual health services working across 4 Community Health and Social Care Partnerships meeting the needs of 80,000 patient attendances per annum. Hours of work are Monday to Friday 08.30-16.30 or 12.00 – 20.00 with a minimum of one evening shift per week and the possibility of long days in some circumstances.

The post holder would be expected to take on all elements of supporting the clinical, outreach and health promotion activities of ROAM. They are also expected participate in the care of people requiring Genitourinary Medicine, HIV, Contraceptive, unplanned pregnancy and gynaecological care in the wider Chalmers services.

First level male* registered nurse with current NMC registration; post registration qualification in sexual and reproductive health (or willingness to undertake). Applications from people of all ages are welcomed, subject to meeting the relevant criteria; post registration experience including some experience in sexual health or related area, non-judgemental, person centred approach, ability to use initiative and work independently; effective communication skills; highly developed clinical consultation skills; and a willingness to work unsocial hours and travel independently to local clinics and outreach settings throughout Lothian.

Valid Full UK driving license

Knowledge and understanding of contraceptive options for women and experience of using MI techniques to promote behaviour change.

Job opportunity for a male* registered nurse experienced in providing specialist sexual and reproductive health care as part of a specialist outreach team working with men who have sex with men within a world class fully integrated NHS Lothian Sexual and Reproductive Health Service.
