The role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Occupational Therapy Department at Gartnavel Royal Hospital as part of a well-established and supportive team. The successful candidate will deliver specialist occupational therapy assessments, person-centred interventions, and treatment evaluations, while contributing to the ongoing development of the service alongside the Lead Occupational Therapist. The role promotes evidence-based practice, multidisciplinary working, and offers regular supervision and professional development opportunities.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Permanent, part-time, 18 hours per week

Shift pattern - during the working hours of the department, Monday – Friday. 8.30 am – 4.30 pm

Base location - Gartnavel Royal Hospital

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialist occupational therapy assessments and interventions.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of occupational therapy treatments.
  • Use outcome measures to monitor and assess patient progress.
  • Supervise Band 5 Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Support Workers, and students.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the occupational therapy service.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience in using outcome measures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, relatives, carers, and partner organisations.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development.
