Job Advert

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The role:

The department of Nuclear Medicine in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is looking for a registered clinical scientist to support clinical trials within the department. Based within the Nuclear Medicine team at Gartnavel General Hospital where the majority of Clinical trials are hosted you will help lead and co-ordinate the Nuclear Medicine aspects of clinical trials and research within the department, ensuring studies are delivered safely, practically and in line with governance, radiation protection and research requirements. The role is funded by Research and Innovation for the support of Clinical Trials in Nuclear Medicine. It is expected that this will take most of the time and that the post holder will not generally be involved in the routine work of the department except in as far as it intersects with Trials, Research and Audit work. This is a rare opportunity for a recently qualified clinical scientist to develop their knowledge and experience of Nuclear Medicine in a research capacity within a clinical environment. The Nuclear Medicine service at Gartnavel General Hospital delivers the regional (West of Scotland) PETCT Service, a wide ranging Molecular Radiotherapy service with dedicated in and out-patient facilities and a conventional Nuclear Medicine service. Each of these services is heavily involved in Clinical Trials and research. Several MRT treatments are delivered on a national basis. The PETCT centre has 2 PETCT scanners, with a replacement 48cm scanner due to be installed this year.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) may be able to provide visa sponsorship for certain roles, subject to the post meeting the relevant eligibility criteria. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and will be determined on a case-by-case basis following interview and during the pre-employment verification process. Applicants must state their current right to work in their application.
