About Us

At NHS Golden Jubilee University National Hospital, we’re proud to play a key role in supporting NHS Scotland by delivering high-quality, person-centred care. As a modern national facility with state-of-the-art clinical services and specialist teams, we help ensure patients across Scotland receive timely, safe and effective treatment.

We are currently recruiting for an Advanced Nurse Practitioner / Trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our Advanced Practice Team within Cardiothoracic Surgery. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care within a nationally recognised organisation. The successful candidate will initially be based within Cardiac & Thoracic ward areas, with opportunities to support Advanced Nurse Practitioner services across the wider hospital as service needs require.

About the Role

Working across role and organisational boundaries, the Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) manages the complete clinical care of patients, utilising advanced clinical knowledge, decision-making skills and professional expertise to support multidisciplinary teams and deliver exceptional patient outcomes. The ANP practices autonomously in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of patients, including prescribing, referral, admission and discharge within their scope of competence.

This is an opportunity to work in a dynamic, innovative and supportive environment where your contribution will directly enhance patient care and service delivery. You will work collaboratively with medical, nursing and allied health professionals to provide evidence-based care and ensure patients receive seamless, high-quality treatment throughout their journey.

Key responsibilities include:
• Undertaking comprehensive patient assessment, diagnosis and clinical management.
• Developing and implementing evidence-based treatment plans.
• Requesting, interpreting and acting upon diagnostic investigations.
• Prescribing medications and initiating non-pharmacological interventions where appropriate.
• Providing clinical leadership, support and expert advice to colleagues.
• Contributing to the development of policies, guidelines and service improvements.
• Supporting education, training, research and audit activities.
• Working autonomously while promoting effective multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and person-centred care.

About You

We welcome applications from both fully qualified Advanced Nurse Practitioners and nurses wishing to undertake a Trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioner pathway.

For the qualified ANP role, applicants should be educated to Master's level in Advanced Practice, be registered with the NMC, hold V300 Nurse Independent/Supplementary Prescriber status and possess significant post-registration experience within a healthcare setting, including experience at a senior practitioner level.

For the trainee role, applicants must be registered nurses with degree-level education and an Advanced Clinical Assessment qualification, alongside a commitment to developing advanced practice knowledge and skills.

We are looking for candidates who:
• Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning and continuous professional development.
• Have a successful track record of working within multidisciplinary teams.
• Deliver compassionate, patient-centred care.
• Are enthusiastic, highly motivated and adaptable.
• Can work effectively across professional and organisational boundaries.

Additional Information

Qualified ANP applicants will be appointed to Band 7. Trainee ANP applicants will be appointed at Band 7 (Annexe 21 arrangements apply) until completion of training and achievement of the required competencies.
