Lead Community Services. Deliver Transformation. Improve Lives.
West Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership is seeking an exceptional leader to join our Senior Management Team as Head of Health and Community Care.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of community health and social care services within one of Scotland's longest-established integrated partnerships.
This role requires substantial senior leadership experience within community health, social work, social care and, ideally, integrated services. Applicants should be able to demonstrate responsibility for significant budgets, service transformation, operational performance within statutory and regulated services, and the delivery of services within a complex and challenging financial environment.
We are looking for a strategic, ambitious and resilient leader with significant experience of delivering community-based services, leading large-scale transformation and driving improvement across complex systems.
Working across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and West Dunbartonshire Council, you will lead a substantial portfolio of integrated health, social work, social care and integrated community based services, ensuring safe, effective and person-centred care while driving innovation, service redesign and sustainable improvement. You will also be familiar with the regulatory environment these services work within such as the Care Inspectorate and Healthcare Improvement Scotland.
As we continue to respond to increasing demand, health inequalities, workforce challenges and financial pressures, this role will play a critical part in shaping services that meet the needs of our communities both now and in the future.
The Role
As Head of Health and Community Care, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across a diverse portfolio of integrated community health, social work and social care services.
You will lead the delivery of key strategic priorities, ensuring services remain responsive, sustainable and focused on improving outcomes for local people. Working closely with the Chief Officer, senior leaders, clinicians, elected members and partner organisations, you will drive service transformation, performance improvement and effective governance across your areas of responsibility.
A key aspect of the role will be leading services through a challenging financial landscape, identifying opportunities for innovation and redesign while maintaining high-quality care and support. You will be required to balance competing priorities, manage significant resources and support delivery of the Partnership's strategic and financial objectives.
The successful candidate will play a leading role in delivering national and local priorities, strengthening partnership working and supporting the continued development of integrated models of care across West Dunbartonshire.
About You
We are looking for an experienced and credible leader who can demonstrate a successful track record of leadership within complex health, social work, social care, and, ideally, integrated service environments.
You will bring:
- Significant senior leadership experience within community health, social work, social care or integrated services.
- Experience of leading large-scale service transformation and organisational change.
- A strong understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing community-based services.
- Experience of managing substantial budgets and delivering services within a complex financial environment.
- A track record of delivering improvement in statutory and regulated services while balancing quality, performance and financial sustainability.
- Excellent partnership-working skills with experience of working across organisational and professional boundaries.
- The ability to influence, inspire and lead through change, building strong relationships with staff, stakeholders and communities.
Most importantly, you will share our commitment to improving outcomes, reducing inequalities and ensuring that people receive high-quality, person-centred support in their communities.
