Job Advert

You will contribute to the comprehensive multi-disciplinary team in providing care and support to service users and their families within the local community.  You will have responsibility for the management of both your own community caseload and the management and supervision of the caseloads of both trained nursing staff and health care assistants within the team.   You will provide a comprehensive, specialist nursing service for clients with often complex health and social needs within a defined geographical area. You will take a lead role in promoting partnership working within the mental health network, both internally and externally.  You will have responsibility for profession specific clinical governance activity within the Community Mental Health Team which will include the monitoring of standards of care and service, responding to complaints, staff support, career long learning, continuous development, supporting practice education for under and post graduate students, clinical supervision, teaching & supervision of non-registered staff and the implementation of policy and clinical guidelines.  You will demonstrate leadership skills in the management of defined projects. You will deputise for the Team Leader when required and respond to team issues in the absence of the Team Leader, thereby ensuring the safe delivery of services. You will also be required to monitor the competence of designated staff e.g. registered and unregistered staff, self-help support workers and students.  This post is for 37.5 hours a week and you will work Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm – you may occasionally be asked to work out with these times in response to service needs (for example to aid assessment of service user in crisis).  It would be desirable if you have a current driving licence to carry out visits in the community, either within community resources or the service user’s home.  As part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde's pre-employment checking for all appointed candidates, evidence of current NMC registration will be required prior to start date. You should therefore note candidates who are unable to provide confirmation of current NMC registration, in line with projected start date for this post, may not be shortlisted for interview.  It is essential that you are currently a Registered Mental Health Nurse with the NMC and that you have evidence based psychological therapy skills and experience of mental health nursing practice.  The shift pattern for this post is Monday – Friday 9.00am – 5.00pm.
