Are you looking for a change? A new post, in a new location, then why not consider a move to Shetland – Islands of Opportunity*.
If you want to be part of a remote and rural island community where you can deliver truly person-centred care and support, to individuals across the lifespan then this may be the opportunity you have been looking for.
We have all been living in challenging times throughout 2020 but as we remobilise services out of the Pandemic we are looking for additional staff to join us in order to continue to develop our community based services, supporting the ongoing shifting of the balance of care to community settings.
As a District Nurse based on mainland Shetland you will be part of the wider team of District Nurses who lead care for individuals throughout Shetland. District Nursing teams are part of a multi-disciplinary team based at our 10 Health Centres located throughout the Isles. Close working exists with social care partners and the District Nursing workforce provide an in reach service to all residential care homes who care for individuals with a range of highly complex conditions.
As an experienced District Nurse you will be a caseload holder and carry 24hr responsibility within a specific caseload. Ideally you will also possess advanced clinical examinations skills and a non-medical prescribing qualification to support you in practice. Applications are sought from individuals with a special interest in Tissue Viability, Continence, Frailty, and Long term condition management.
Eight out of ten of our General Practices are Board run and thus the General Practice Nursing workforce is provided through the Health and Social Care Partnership. We are looking for qualified General Practice Nurses to join us to provide a practice nursing service across Shetland. In line with the Scottish Government Transforming Nursing roles, the Band 6 General Practice Nurse role focuses on the management of individuals with long term conditions and, depending upon the post, you may also be required to lead and manage a skill mixed team of practice based nursing staff.
Nursing students have clinical placements across all of the Community Nursing service.
We also have Band 5 community nurse posts available, this is open to experience community nurses or newly qualified nurses
