Pharmacy Support Worker
Are you interested in a career in Pharmacy? We are currently recruiting Pharmacy Support Workers for the various hospitals within Greater Glasgow and Clyde. From the large acute teaching hospitals to district generals we cover all specialities and have something to suit everyone.
Does the opportunity to train and learn in a supportive environment with motivated colleagues while undertaking a Scottish Vocational Qualification Level 11 appeal to you? This post could be a development opportunity for the right candidate, and could progress to a Pre-registration Pharmacy Technician position dependent on future service requirements. The opportunity to work in many of our specialist areas from: Dispensing services: - dispensing discharge prescriptions at ward level, providing ward top up services and working as part of the multidisciplinary team both at ward level and in the dispensary, supply of medicines to wards and departments.
Preparative Services: - Supporting the preparation of aseptically prepared medicines for example cytotoxic chemotherapy, parenteral nutrition for adults, children and neonates and contribute to the day to day running of the aseptic units by supporting stock management and environmental monitoring.
Clinical Trials: - Dispensing Clinical Trials, support environmental monitoring and contributing to the management of stock for trial medicines.
Pharmacy Distribution Centre: - Robotic supply of medicines to all hospitals within GG+C.
Pharmacy Services provides a 7day service on some sites which may include the requirement to participate in an extended hour’s service as per a departmental rota.
Three standard grades (or equivalent) including Mathematics and English, and basic IT skills are essential. Previous hospital pharmacy experience is desirable, however full training will be provided. These posts are based over various NHSGGC locations.
