The Role

As part of the Communications Department, the Web and Digital Officer supports the Lead Web and Digital Officer and Senior Communications and FOI Officer in managing and enhancing NHS Lanarkshire’s internal and external communication channels. This includes creating and managing digital content across multiple platforms, ensuring messaging, format, and tone are tailored to target audiences.

The post holder also contributes to the strategic direction of the communications team and supports the planning and delivery of key campaigns and initiatives.

What we'll need you to bring

Degree-level qualification or equivalent in digital media, communications, design, or related field

  • Designing and maintaining responsive websites using HTML, CSS
  • Using CMS (e.g., WordPress)
  • Producing digital content to accessibility standards (WCAG)
  • Using Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Creating content for social media platforms
  • Writing and editing accessible content
  • Knowledge of web standards and accessibility (WCAG, W3C)
  • Understanding of GDPR and digital governance
  • Awareness of NHS brand and style guidelines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Creative flair and an eye for design
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to train and support non-specialist colleagues
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Ability to work autonomously to deliver the workload

Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

It would be great if you also have

  • Relevant professional certification (e.g., accessibility, digital marketing, UX)
  • Using SharePoint 365 and Microsoft Teams
  • Working with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics)
  • Experience of paid social campaigns and A/B testing
  • Using Canva, Kapwing, or other video/graphic design tools
  • Understanding of user experience (UX) and SEO
  • Familiarity with FOISA, copyright, and social media policies
  • Knowledge of AI applications relevant to digital communications and content creation
  • Confidence in presenting or training groups
  • Ability to analyse and report on digital performance metrics
  • Interest in innovation and continuous improvement in NHS communications
