Would you like to undertake a new role as a Pharmacy Technician working within primary care as part of an integrated pharmacy service and deliver joined up care for patients?

The NHS Fife Pharmacy Service is undergoing an ambitious programme of transformation and integration. It serves a population of approximately 380,000 people and is provided by an integrated team of around 200 Pharmacy staff, including Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Support Workers, Nurses, and Administrators. The teams work across Acute and Community hospital sites, General Practices, Mental Health services, and a range of specialist teams. Partnership working is at the core of our values, and we work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, including our Community Pharmacy colleagues, to deliver the highest quality care for everyone in Fife.

Due to developments within the GP Clinical Pharmacy Service, we have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician registered with the GPHC to join our clinical pharmacy team working in primary care This post will provide an opportunity to develop clinical skills in a range of settings, including GP practices, care homes, and patient own homes.

You will be working in primary care within the Practice Pharmacy Team and will primarily work within a GP Pharmacy Base in North East Fife. You will provide support to GP practices to carry out a range of roles. This will include medicines reconciliation of discharge letters, op clinic letters and new patient registrations, acute prescription requests, supporting MCR serial prescribing, medicines efficiency projects, prescribing audits and medication/compliance reviews in care homes, patients own homes or in a homely setting. You may have the opportunity to work in hospital or across the interface, depending on the needs of the service. 

You will be an experienced pharmacy technician registered with the GPhC with proven post qualification primary care experience an advantage. You must be enthusiastic, self motivated and be able to work independently and as part of the pharmacy and wider multidisciplinary teams. You will also be an excellent communicator with the ability to build good relationships with colleagues and other healthcare professionals. You should have experience of working in a clinical environment. On a day to day basis you will be based in a pharmacy base situated within Fife, therefore the ability to travel throughout Fife is essential. Further training and support in prescribing systems and clinical roles will be provided.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.
