The Assertive Outreach team consists of NHS staff and staff from our partner agency ‘We Are With you’. This team provides an assertive and proactive outreach service, which aims to provide rapid access into treatment for people who present with opiate dependence from multiple sources including, Third Sector, Community Pharmacy, Prison and Police Custody, Scottish Ambulance Service and the Emergency Department. Assertive Outreach staff act as a point of contact and coordinate the multi-agency Dumfries and Galloway Assertive Outreach model in order to improve outcomes for those at risk of drug related death or harm.
We are looking for either a registered nurse or AHP. Experience of working with individuals with addictions would be beneficial but is not essential. This post is being offered as a band 5 / 6 development post (dependent on experience). Secondment may be considered.
The Specialist Drug and Alcohol Service promotes personal development actively for its staff, providing a number of development opportunities including, non-medical prescribing and psychological therapies such as Trauma Based Care, Motivational Interviewing and CBT training.
A full induction period will be given to enable shadowing of existing Assertive Outreach staff.
A current Driving Licence, or means of travelling independently throughout the region, are essential for this post. Some locations are remote and not on bus routes and there will be requirement to transport equipment.
The hours of this post currently are Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm.
