Pharmacy Technicians are registered professions who are vital members of both the pharmacy and NHS Healthcare team whether in hospitals, community pharmacies or GP practices. The role of the Pharmacy Technician is becoming more varied and complex as medicines become increasingly sophisticated and the role of the pharmacist evolves. As a result of this, the aim of our training programme is to deliver Pharmacy Technicians who have the necessary skills and knowledge to practice in a 21st century NHS. We’re looking to recruit a motivated and committed Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician(s) to undertake a two-year Technical Apprenticeship programme during which you will work towards the Diploma in Pharmacy Services.  This includes completing the PDA in Pharmacy Services (SCQF 7) and SVQ in Pharmacy Services (SCQF 8) while developing your knowledge skills within our pharmacy team These posts would rotate between the Borders General Hospital, GP Surgeries and Community Pharmacies across NHS Borders.

On completion of the programme, you will be eligible to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician and progress into a range of opportunities within the profession.

To apply for this post applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • National 5 qualifications at Grade A to C (or equivalent SCQF Level) in Chemistry, Biology, Maths and English/ESOL

or

  • completion of the Access to Pharmacy Services (SCQF level 5), NC in Pharmacy Services or NC in Applied Sciences

In addition to academic qualifications, we are looking for applicants who can evidence an enthusiasm for learning and development, a professional attitude and a passion for working within the wider healthcare care team.
