You will aid in the further development and accreditation of West of Scotland (WoS) Safe Haven Research and Innovation Service as part of the NHS Research Scotland (NRS) Network of Safe Havens, working in close collaboration with the Chief Scientist Office (Scottish Government) to implement national policy and strategy in this area. You will lead the development and implementation of governance arrangements to support the utilisation of electronic health records for research and innovation purposes across the WoS Academic Health Sciences Network (WoSAHSN)to ensure that patient confidentiality is not breached and that organisational risk is minimised. This includes taking responsibility for applying for further approvals if required (Caldicott Guardian: Public Benefit & Privacy Panel (PBPP)) and for reporting any breaches of privacy to the Regulatory Affairs Group and proposing and meeting Corrective and Preventative Actions to mitigate against recurrence. You will also be required to manage staff and be accountable for all aspects of the quality of Safe Haven services, providing professional leadership, clinical knowledge and specialist advice to multidisciplinary staff, a range of industry partners and research groups who use the service. You should be educated to Master’s level in a clinical or life sciences related subject, or have equivalent, relevant experience, in order to demonstrate ability to interpret, analyse and write technical documents and reports at an academic and theoretical level. You should also have significant experience in health-related research or information management (preferably in the specialist field of medical/health statistics). Experience and knowledge of the NHS and an understanding of the way in which high quality information can support healthcare research, including understanding of metadata and the assessment of strengths and weaknesses of different data sources would be beneficial. The hours of this post are Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm with flexible working required at times to meet project requirements.

This is a fixed term post for 3 years.
