Clinical Lead Physiotherapist Band 7, Physical Disabilities Rehabilitation Service, Inverclyde Royal Hospital Greenock
A rare and exciting opportunity for a permanent, full time position has arisen with the Physical Disabilities Rehabilitation Service (PDRS) based within Inverclyde Royal Hospital, Greenock.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated physiotherapy Clinical Lead to join our close working multidisciplinary team.
Working with a committed, and proactive multidisciplinary therapy team, you will assess and provide physiotherapy intervention for patients with complex neurological conditions with a key role in developing independence, risk assessment, condition management and health promotion.
You will support the Team Lead by taking on responsibility for the physiotherapy service delivery and contribute to the ongoing development of the physiotherapy service in line with the Service aims and objectives. You will also be responsible for the Physiotherapy Spasticity Management Service that is being introduced into PDRS. This will involve your continuation of learning and development within spasticity management to optimise the impact of this new role within PDRS.
You will have responsibility for the supervision, education and development of a Band 6 physiotherapist, generic Therapy Support Workers and students within the speciality, provide a specialised resource to other healthcare staff and show commitment to Quality Improvement, Service development, Clinical Governance and Clinical Effectiveness and Research. There will also be responsibility for operational tasks as delegated by the Team Leader. Along with other team members you will be expected to carry out a proportion of team duties e.g. Screening assessments of inpatient and community referrals on behalf of the wider multidisciplinary team and medical staff.
Within PDRS we pride ourselves on our seamless service, offering rehab and promoting condition management in the Inverclyde community following patients’ discharge from the ward. You will also treat community patients referred via other Services e.g. GP, Clinical Nurse Specialists. The community caseload can be complex, diverse and demanding. You will work flexibly across the community, outpatient and inpatient services.
The Inverclyde PDRS team forms part of NHS GG&C’s Regional Rehab services along with the Physical Disabilities Rehabilitation Unit (PDRU) based in Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow and it will be important to foster good team working and communication with your physiotherapy colleagues to establish a more unified service that acknowledges the differences and similarities of these two services.
Within Inverclyde there are established close working partnerships with HSCP and third sector agencies.
Applicants should have substantial experience working at a highly specialist or advanced practice level in the field of complex Neurological Rehabilitation and management of long term conditions, as well as proven leadership skills.
Whilst is would be desirable to possess post graduate qualification and experience for physiotherapy spasticity management, we will consider applicants who do not under Annex 21.
