The person assigned to this position will assist the Telecoms department in providing comprehensive support for users across NHS Lothian, responding to user requests for assistance via eHealth Service Desk. Assisting with administrative and technical support for the procurement, enrolment, configuration, maintenance, and repair of mobile telecommunication equipment, smartphones and devices and all related software. To offer expert advice and training to users on the use of telecommunication systems and software

Duties will include, but will not be limited to:

Acting as the escalation point for the Telecoms section of the eHealth Service Desk, taking ownership of any equipment request tasks, and technical support incidents. Using technical knowledge and analytical skills to diagnose and repair hardware and software faults, whilst ensuring appropriate policies and procedures are followed. Fully documenting all steps taken until a successful resolve, or if being passed onto internal/ external supplier for resolution.

Diagnosing and repair of smartphone and mobile hardware and software faults, with more complex problems being detailed and passed onto external suppliers for resolution.

Leading on communication with approved external suppliers for   hardware procurement (i.e., Smart devices, mobiles, SIMs, etc). This includes checking all equipment delivered for accuracy, then organisation and storage of items, ensuring all equipment is receipted correctly on Pecos (electronic procurement system) and sending any payable invoices to NHS Lothian financial teams.

Ensuring all electronic equipment is disposed of in line with Lothians Secure Storage, Disposal and Destruction of Electronic Equipment and Media Policy. Accurately recording devices marked for destruction on Lothians approved database to record equipment sent for destruction.

Checking equipment and service request forms for accurate information, ensuring the correct budget signatory is approving. Ensuring items are recharged out securely, and to the correct departmental cost codes.

Tracking and reporting of any high value and zero usage across mobile voice and mobile data networks. Contacting all associated budget holders/end-users to ensure any excessive costs and non-usage is alerted and reduced.

Managing all remote factory wipe and reset of PINs for Smartphone devices.

Delivering appropriate one to one training and developing training materials on the use of Smartphone devices and smart technology and advising users on a range of smart technology and mobile phone queries.

Level of experience/knowledge desired:

Knowledge of Android OS and iOS, and their operations.

Knowledge of MS Office Suites, including advanced Excel functionality.

Mobile network operations, processes, and procedures

Experience using Mobile Device Management (MDM)

Experience working in Help Desk environment

Previous experience working with public / team player.
