GGC Placement
This is a National Training Post designed to lead to registration as a Clinical Scientist with the Healthcare Professions Council and will be based within the Glasgow Royal Infirmary Assisted Conception Service (ACS). The ACS has recently undergone major refurbishment of laboratory facilities, outpatients and clinical treatment suite and re-opened in September 2014. The new facilities provide state of the art equipment and a comprehensive range of clinical techniques, offering a high standard of treatment tailored to suit individual patient needs.
Lothian Placement
This is a National Training Post designed to lead to registration as a Clinical Scientist with the Healthcare Professions Council and will be based within the Edinburgh Fertility Centre and Department of Reproductive Endocrinology (EFC&DRE) based on the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Approximately 600 cycles of assisted reproduction treatment (IVF/ICSI/PGT), 450 cycles of frozen embryo transfer and 2000 laboratory investigations are carried out in EFC per year. The service provides comprehensive fertility care for couples in Edinburgh and South East Scotland. It operates in conjunction with other users such as NHS Lothian, primary care and other stakeholders to ensure consistent standards of fertility care are applied throughout Scotland.
GGC and Lothian Placement
The post holder will join a team of dedicated embryologists and under supervision of the Consultant Clinical Embryologist will become proficient and participate in all embryology and andrology procedures for the assessment and treatment of infertility. These include in vitro fertilisation (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), gamete recruitment and donation, gamete and embryo cryopreservation and surgical sperm retrieval.
The post holder will be expected to undertake training and deliver clinical work at an exceptionally high standard, with meticulous attention to detail.
A recognised Life Sciences degree awarded at 2;2 or above with a related MSc or PhD is essential.
Interviews will take place on the 14th and 16th of June and the sucessful candidate must be available to commence employment on the 1st of September 2022.
This is a Fixed term post for 3 years.
