Opportunities are available for perioperative practitioners within the GGC South Sector. This includes adult theatres of the QEUH, Theatres within GGH and the Victoria ACH . The theatre departments cover a variety of specialties including General Surgery, Urology, Renal, Vascular, opathlmology,Orthopaedics, ENT, Gynaecology, Orthopaedic Trauma and CEPOD Emergencies. We work closely with our specialty colleagues ensuring latest technology and equipment.

As a Theatre Nurse or an ODP with us, you’ll enjoy a multi-specialty role, rotating around the suite for Anaesthetics, Scrub or Recovery. We can expand your skills and knowledge across a fascinating and diverse range of cases. Our enthusiastic education team will guide and support you whether you are a newly qualified nurse or if you are just new to our department and facilitate your learning and education development

You will be a First Level Registered Nurse trained in general nursing or adult nursing or a Registered Operating Department Practitioner. Experience in Theatre practice is desirable. Opportunities are also available for newly qualified staff.

As part of the multidisciplinary team you will have responsibility for assessment of care needs and the development of programmes of care and the implementation and evaluation of these programmes ensuring the delivery of high quality care to patients within the perioperative department. The ability to work on your own initiative but also as part of an integrated team is required. You are required to demonstrate flexibility by working within a service that runs over a seven day week. Furthermore, you will be expected where necessary to engage in multi-site working within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde in order to achieve the needs of the service. As part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s pre employment checking for all appointed candidates, evidence of current NMC registration will be required prior to start date. You should therefore note candidates who are unable to provide confirmation of current NMC registration, in line with projected start date for this post, may not be shortlisted for interview. This post requires PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland Check.
