An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) or a trainee ANP to join our established, friendly and supportive ANP team within the Acute Receiving Unit of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH). The role will be based predominantly within the Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit.
As an ANP within acute medicine, you will play a vital role in the ongoing strategic development of unscheduled care services within the QEUH.
You will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, including prescribing, of patients who present with a wide range of health conditions. The ANP role includes the authority to refer, admit and discharge patients. This will involve working autonomously and utilising a high level of clinical decision making and problem solving skills.
As an ANP, you will be able to manage the complete clinical care for patients by utilising your advanced clinical knowledge and skills to ensure the delivery of safe and effective patient care.
We are seeking an individual who is also flexible, forward thinking, hardworking and professional. The ability to remain calm under pressure is a priority as well as possessing excellent communication and organisational skills. You must have the ability to work as part of a wide multi-disciplinary team as well as to work independently. Leadership skills are needed to embrace change and to have the desire to develop and improve services.
Essential Qualifications:
It is essential that you are a Registered General Nurse on the NMC register. Applicants should have or be working towards, an appropriate Masters level qualification in Advanced Practice which provides evidence of competency in the following:
- Clinical Examination & History Taking
- Clinical Decision Making
- Independent Prescribing – V300
The successful candidate should preferably be a suitably qualified ANP with experience as an ANP in an acute setting and/or an ambulatory care setting.
We may also consider applications from experienced RN who possesses the commitment and willingness to undertake the ANP training pathway (Postgraduate Diploma over two years). Annexe 21 (Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions) will apply until successful completion of the ANP training programme. Applicants for the ANP training post must have substantial post registration experience and have relevant experience working at a band 6 level in an acute care/ medical environment.
The shift pattern for this post is 12 hour day shifts, over 7 days.
