The QMRI facility is part of the network of imaging facilities across Edinburgh. It is located within the Queen’s Medical Research Institute (QMRI) at the Bioquarter Campus at Little France in Edinburgh. It hosts a 3T wide bore MRI, Scotland’s first PET-MR scanner and 2 PET-CT systems. Both NHS and University staff work together in the facility.

The facility supports both imaging for biomedical research and NHS clinical imaging.

There is an opportunity to join our expert imaging team at the QMRI facility. You would have the opportunity to work on cutting edge equipment and take part in innovative research.

You should be a radiographer, ideally with cross sectional imaging experience. Experience in research and MRI and/or CT imaging is desirable (Cardiac MRI/CT in particular). Training will be provided if necessary.

The vacancy is to work within our core areas of MRI and PET-MRI or PET-CT and CT. There will be the opportunity to expand to all areas as you gain experience.

Your role will be to support both research and clinical activity. This primarily includes imaging tasks, but also data management, administration and additional support for research projects.

You would be employed on an NHS Agenda for Change contract. NHS work is in conjunction with RIE Radiology. Research Imaging is in support of University Academic research as well as NHS and commercial clinical trials.

You should have technical expertise and knowledge, along with a methodical and organised approach to your work. The ability to work within a close team is essential and you must be committed to providing the highest quality of service to patients, research participants and colleagues.

The imaging team are expected to be proactive regarding further education and CPD. To fully contribute to the team a valid interest in medical research is essential.

Working hours are generally 7.5hrs per day, Monday to Friday; however, flexible working will be required as workload demands, such as evening or weekend scanning.
