To undertake the role of an advanced nurse practitioner (ANP), utilising high levels of decision making and clinical judgment. Ensure that patient health needs are met through the provision of the diagnosis and the management of patient conditions through the assessment, treatment and review planning process in partnership with patients and families.
Provide specialist advice to healthcare professionals, other agencies, carers, clients and relatives. The ANP role encompasses that of expert clinician, educator and auditor.
Lead and develop the service to improve practice and work collaboratively across healthcare boundaries, implementing and evaluating evidence based standards, guidelines and policies.
Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) ADVANCED NURSE PRACTITIONER or Trainee ADVANCED NURSE PRACTITIONER
We are seeking to recruit highly motivated, clinically experienced, senior registered mental health nurses into the position of Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP). Applicants should have completed academic education in Advanced Clinical Practice and Examination Skills, and Independent Supplementary Prescribing (v300).
This post is also open to applicants who do not currently meet the criteria outlined above, giving the opportunity to be appointed as a Trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioner and supported to undertake the required education and clinical skills development whilst in post. Funding will be provided. If the successful applicant falls into this category, they will initially be employed under Annex U of Agenda for Change terms and conditions of employment, whilst undertaking the relevant academic education and work-based skills and competency development.
Completion of the community clinical assessment and decision making module is a pre-requisite for acceptance to academic component of the ANP course and applicants for the trainee position should have successfully completed this prior to submission of their application.
The aim of the post will be to provide a new and exciting advanced clinical nursing service to CAMHS and will join our team of existing trainee ANP’s as part of this developing service. The post holder will also be involved in a programme of staff development, research and audit with a particular focus on the physical and mental healthcare needs of CAMHS patients in the community teams.
Contracted Hours are 37.5hrs worked over 5 days Monday-Friday. Clinical practice placements may be worked on day / early / late shift pattern with occasional night and weekend working.

Agenda for Change Band 7 (Annex U applicable for candidates who do not meet the minimum criteria for a fully qualified / competent Mental Health Advanced Nurse Practitioner)
This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
*Please note if appointed as a Trainee post, therefore will Annex 21 apply*
For trainees covered by Annex 21 where the period of training lasts for between one and four years, pay will be as follows:
- up to 12 months prior to completion of training: 75 per cent of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate;
- more than one but less than two years prior to completion of training: 70 per cent of the pay band maximum of the qualified rate of the qualified;
- more than two but less than three years prior to completion of training: 65 per cent of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate.
- more than three years from completion of training: 60 per cent of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate.
