Mental Health Liaison Nurse
Band 6 £41,608 - £50,702 (pro rata)
Plus Distant Islands Allowance of £1,406 (pro rata)
29.6 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a conscientious, enthusiastic and highly motivated Senior Nurse to work Monday - Friday as Mental Health Liaison Nurse within Western Isles Hospital. You will work as part of the local Mental Health Team. Your main role and responsibilities involve providing a robust liaison service to A&E Department, Acute Assessment Unit and the wider hospital wards, assessing patients who present with a range of emotional and behavioural disturbances affecting their mental health, these include, but are not limited to, individuals who present as a result of self harm, mood disorders, perceptual disturbances, acute confusional states, Dementias.
A core element of the role is to liaise with colleagues within the MDT, Community services, Third sector agencies, carers. and signposting patients on to available digital and non digital self help resources. Alongside this work, you will be expected to provide advice, support and opportunistic education to colleagues working in the wider hospital wards, challenging any stigmas, and role modelling high quality Mental Health care.
Good team working abilities, effective interpersonal, and excellent communication skills are essential to the role.
A minimum of 2 years post registration experience as well as recent experience of working in Mental Health Services is essential.
We seek to provide up-to-date Clinical Practice in response to Local and National Guidelines and drivers. Ongoing CPD is promoted and supported in developing your knowledge and skills as an active member of our team. All of which is complimented with regular Clinical supervision and annual appraisals.
