MRI Service Administrator

Indicative Band 3 - £29,103 to £31,409 per annum

Plus £1,461 Distant Islands Allowance per annum

36 hours per week

Permanent Post


We are looking for a highly motivated, dedicated and enthusiastic Administrator to work in our brand new MRI Unit. The successful applicant will oversee the administration of the service, working in with the dedicated Healthcare Assistants and Radiographers, and responsible to the Radiology Administration Team Lead and to the Lead MRI Radiographer. There will be occasional rotation through the main Radiology Department.

The Successful candidate will provide general administrative, clerical and secretarial support to the MRI service specifically and the Radiology Department generally.

Training for Radiology specific systems will be provided: Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving Communications System (PACS).

It is also essential that the candidate has awareness of MRI Safety, although training for this will also be provided.

Imaging is undertaken for a range of specialities – Respiratory, Oncology, Urology, Vascular, Orthopaedic, Gynaecology, Paediatrics etc. We are committed to providing the best care possible to our population

The post will be based at the Western Isles Hospital.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience working in administration/busy office environment
  • Be computer literate
  • Have experience working in Healthcare setting
  • Be proficient in use of software systems
  • Have keyboard skills
  • Have good organisational and communication skills
  • Have the ability to work on own initiative and be self-motivated and exercise sound judgement on own initiative
  • Have awareness of confidentiality issues
  • Have relevant practical experience.
  • Have a good understanding of structure and purpose of the organisation and its divisions and departments.
  • Be comfortable with a diverse workload
  • Be a team worker
  • Have the ability to follow instructions and a willingness to learn
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
