We have an exciting and challenging post within our small, enthusiastic Public Health Team which encompass taking forward a programme of work on use of the natural environment to promote health and wellbeing. Working collaboratively across all parts of Highland, this post will operate throughout the area therefore the post holder must be able to travel around the area.

Our Natural Health Service, led by Scottish Natural Heritage, is a national cross-sector initiative aiming to maximise the contribution the natural environment can make to health improvement outcomes. The post holder will coordinate the establishment of a Green Health Partnership in Highland which will bring together health services, third sector, Further and Higher education and other sectors with the environment agenda at a local level to use the natural environment to improve health outcomes around healthy weight, physical activity and wellbeing. The post holder will work with a range of partners to support the promotion of existing activities, upscale what works, and identify barriers and create solutions that are co-produced with communities. This will create greater connectivity between health/social care priorities and the provision of nature-based solutions in order to readjust how people see health care, and demonstrate and disseminate good practice.

You will have a firm understanding of the principles and practice of Public Health/Health Improvement, including communicating messages about health, and also have a strong awareness of the effects inequalities have on health.  You will possess a degree or equivalent and/or post graduate qualification in education, health, social work, community development or another related or relevant discipline.
